Legal actions based on domestic law can often be brought in national courts against companies and governments when natural resource development projects are harming the environment and human rights of affected communities in developing countries.

EDLC believes that the obstacles to bringing these cases can be overcome in part by advancing expenses to the growing number of lawyers pursuing such claims. EDLC’s grant program provides financial support to public interest litigation involving violations of human rights and harm to human health and the environment.
