Helping Organizations

Environmental defenders could not do their important work without support from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that promote and protect environmental human rights. In fact, these NGOs may also be thought of as environmental defenders, and they often need legal assistance.

Lawyers working on EDLC projects of this type defend NGO rights against government attack. They provide a wide variety of institutional support to help NGOs achieve their goals. And they assist NGOs and elected officials in drafting laws that promote and protect citizen participation in matters relating to the environment.
